Permaculture Training

- Description: Permaculture 101 and 202 are day-long courses that cover many of the basics of permaculture. The curriculum was developed by the world-class staff at Bullock's Permaculture Homestead and will be taught by the expert staff at Homestead Habitats. Ecovillage Design Workshop

- Description: Have you ever considered what your ideal living situation might look like? This workshop will provide you with the information needed to start outlining that dream. We'll start the workshop with a presentation, and then everyone will break into groups and start designing a theoretical ecovillage. The Ecovillage Design Workshop is a part of the ESP Fall Tour.
Community Workparties and Skillshares

- Description: Whatcom County has several forming and established intentional communitites. With this project we introduce students to these communities by holding workparties and skillshares at their location. The goals of this project are to introduce students to local intentional communities, help the communities to improve their infrastructure, and allow students to learn valuable skills at the same time. Barter Fair 2010

- Date: October 8th-10th, 2010
- Location: Tonasket, WA
- Description: The Barter Faire is a tradition that has been ongoing since 1973. We will travel to Tonasket on Friday, October 8th and return on Sunday, October 10th. While at the Barter Faire we will camp on Friday and Saturday nights. On the return trip we will stop by Phoenix Farm and take a tour of their beautiful community.
Arcosanti Workshop

- Description: Arcosanti is an experimental town and urban laboratory 70 miles north of Phoenix, AZ that focuses on pursuing lean alternatives to urban sprawl through innovative design with environmental accountability. Arcosanti is designed according to the concept of arcology (architecture + ecology), developed by Italian architect Paolo Soleri. We will fly from Bellingham to Phoenix, drive to Arcosanti and participate in a multi-day customized workshop that will not only broaden your knowledge and skillset, but your persepective on the world.
Guest Speaker: Diana Leafe Christian

- Description: Diana Leafe Christian is an internationally known speaker and activist about the intentional community movement, and an unequalled consultant to many different kinds of intentional communities, including ecovillages, cohousing communities, and forming-community groups. She has written two books, "Creating a Life Together" and "Finding Community", and is currently working on a third. We will be bringing her to WWU where she will do an evening presentation and weekend workshop.
WWU Housing Fair 2011

- Description: This daylong event offers students and local residents an opportunity to address their housing needs for the upcoming school year. There will be opportunities to network with other people who are seeking roommates/housemates. Additionally, there will be a variety of groups tabling at the event, which will include property managers, housing co-ops, university services, and more.
